On 17-18 August we pleased to host the 2016 Zero Harm Knowledge Forum. This year’s forum builds on the success of our inaugural event held last year.
With the new Health and Safety at Work Act in place, we delved into what was next on the horizon for health and safety in New Zealand. It allowed us to explore how we can move our industry from compliance based health and safety to a more proactive culture where our people feel empowered to own and manage the risks associated with their work.
On day one speakers from New Zealand and overseas shared their knowledge around four key topics - safety around road works, work related health, health and safety in design, and developing competency in health and safety. This set the scene for a half day working group session, where a service design quick sprint approach was adopted to define problems and develop solutions to prepare us for moving forward in health and safety.
Thank you to everyone who could attend. It was fantastic to have everyone in the same room, learning from each other and leveraging opportunities to do things differently in our industry.
The document will be presented to the Zero Harm Industry Leadership Group in December 2016. This will help the group set industry priorities for the next financial year. Following this, a copy of the outcome document will be uploaded to the website.
