We have prepared a map of the state highway network across New Zealand showing buffer and effects areas, as defined in the Guide to the management of effects on noise sensitive land use near to the state highway network .

This map will be updated every two years. We recommend that district councils should use these areas when adopting reverse sensitivity provisions in their district plans. We can provide electronic excerpts from this map on request.

The current requirements in each district may differ from the recommended areas shown on this map so reference should be made to the operative district plans.
