Traffic bulletin for the week 15 April – 21 April 2016 for the  Southern Corridor Improvements Project

Traffic bulletins provide a brief overview of likely traffic disruptions for the following week.  Full closures are also advertised in the Weekend Herald.  Traffic bulletins are complemented by monthly construction updates and quarterly newsletters. 

TRAFFIC NEXT WEEK 

  • Tuesday 26 April – Thursday 28 April– Night closure of full southbound motorway between Takanini southbound offramp (Great South Road) through to Papakura southbound onramp (Beach Road)

    From Monday 18 April - Narrowed lanes and 80km/h speed limit northbound between Pahurehure Inlet and Takanini Interchange
  • Sunday 17 April – Wednesday 20 April– Night closure of full northbound motorway between Papakura northbound offramp (Beach Road) through to Takanini northbound onramp (Great South Road). 
  • From Wednesday 27 April - Narrowed lanes and 80km/h speed limit southbound between Takanini Interchange  and Pahurehure Inlet

    Thursday 21 April– Contingency for the above closures if required.
  • In place from last week - Narrowed lanes and 80 km/h speed limit northbound between Pahurehure Inlet and Takanini Interchange

Work Work in the shoulder and median work zones will continue during the daytime next week, but this will not affect traffic movements.

Night work on the motorway next week involves marking new, slightly narrowed lanes from Takanini Interchange to Pahurehure Inlet southbound. Thenorthbound to Takanini southbound onramp will be reduced from its current two lane configuration to one laneInterchange and the merge length will also be shortened. The ramp meter at the onramp will be adjustedinstallation of a new centre median barrier to keep traffic flowing through, particularly in the pm peak. Lineprovide a safe working space to undertake project works.  Line marking is weather permitting as dry conditions are needed.  If it rains, work will be postponed until the next available dry night.

Night closures are typically from 9pm at night to 5am in the morning.  Detours will be in place that will take motorists along local roads, leading back to the next motorway interchange. Pleaseinterchange.   All detours will be clearly signposted and maps of the typical routes can be found on our website here http://www.nzta.govt.nz/projects/southern-corridor-improvements/traffic-notices/ . Please allow extra time for your journeys at night.

UPCOMING WORKS

Keep an eye out for work commencing 26 April southbound between Takanini and Papakura which will also have narrowed lanes and a reduced speed limit.

We ask that motorists slow down and drive with care through the work areas, particularly in areas with new lane arrangements.
