The 15.2km Huntly section is now underway with the Fulton Hogan HEB Joint Venture setting up their site office in McVie Road opposite the Huntly Stock Car Club. Three site huts are also being built across the 15.2km section. More than 100 people have been inducted into the project team so far.
On the Cambridge section the finish line is looming. The project team will be making a decision next month on the opening date for the section. About 4km of the project, between the existing Tamahere interchange and the Northern interchange, is almost complete and we recently opened the Northern interchange bridge to south-bound traffic.
The Hamilton section, longest at 21.8km, is still in the tendering phase with the successful contractor expected to be announced in October.
The Notice of Requirement to alter the designation for the 5.9km Longswamp section and associated resource consents will be publically notified this month.
Work also continues on the Rangiriri section with an increase in traffic management expected across the site from October as the team move into the summer works season.
On the completed Ngaruawahia section storyboards are being worked on to convey the history and ancestral links represented by the pou on the Waikato River bridge and at Lake Aerare and the Kainui wetlands. These will be erected on the walkway by the Waikato River bridge and at Lake Areare.
